Verre binding, the cultural program for Arnhemmers from near and far
In this cultural programme, asylum seekers, creative makers, social institutions, cultural organisations and other Arnhemmers meet each other through cultural activities. We invite all residents of Arnhem to create and experience art together.
Why
Verre binding
Arnhem is hosting more than 3,000 refugees, spread over various reception locations in the city. To ensure that they can participate from day one, a culture program has been developed. In this way, Arnhemmers from here and from far meet each other in a natural way in the city.
Commissioned by the municipality of Arnhem, Bureau Ruimtekoers – which is committed to social art and participation – is developing and coordinating this programme together with the COA, Arnhem makers and cultural institutions, social organisations and the residents of the asylum seekers’ centres, under the name: Verre binding. A program in which meeting, experience and participation are central.
Accessible culture at Arnhem’s azc’s
and cultural institutions
Together with Arnhem makers, asylum seekers’ centre residents and cultural partners, the Ruimtekoers team develops cultural offerings for all Arnhemmers from here and far. Programme councils with asylum seekers’ centre residents programme film evenings with Focus Filmtheater, music evenings with Luxor Live and even a cultural festival every quarter !
At Musis & Stadstheater , together with Buddy to Buddy , we visit performances with a supporting programme, in which connection and meeting are central. In the meantime, asylum seekers sit down at creative studios at asylum seekers’ centre locations, under the guidance of Arnhem makers. These are accessible and repetitive programming around an art discipline such as drawing, making tapestries, film, or music.
Connect
From May 2025, we will continue these creative studios at Connect in Rozet and all Arnhemmers can join us to create and meet together. A new hub for meeting and connecting for Arnhemmers from here and far. Are you in? Visit the creative studios, dream away at one of the films or come and dance!
