The film council from here and far invites you to: The Insult

In The Insult, an incident between two men leads to a case of national importance. The Lebanese civil war casts a shadow on contemporary society.

During the renovation works of an apartment building in Beirut, a problem arises with the water drainage. This leads to a confrontation between resident Toni and contractor Yasser. Toni is a Lebanese Christian. Yasser is a Palestinian refugee.

The argument gets out of hand because of an insult. Both men are dragged into a downward spiral. Its scope extends far beyond the limits of the case-law.

The Insult was internationally embraced by press and audience. Kamel El Basha won the prize for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival.

Program Council

From the project Verre binding , film is used as an art form to create encounters between Arnhemmers from near and far.

The programme council, which started in October 2024, chooses films from all over the world with universal themes that offer the viewer a broader perspective. Verre Binding gives visitors the opportunity to meet Arnhemmers from near and far and to discuss universal themes together.
