The film council from near and far invites you to: El Hawa Sultan

El Hawa Sultan is a 2024 Egyptian romantic drama film written and directed by Heba Yousry. The film follows Sara and Ali, two childhood friends who share a deep bond. As they grow older, they face changes in their relationship and the influence of family and friends. The film explores themes such as love, identity, and societal expectations in contemporary Egypt.

The film will be introduced by members of the film council. In their introduction, they discuss the meaning and role of Egyptian films in the development of Arab cinema and culture.

After the film screening, there will be an opportunity to chat with each other in the foyer while enjoying snacks and drinks.

In the project Verre binding, film is used as an art form to create encounters between Arnhemmers from here and far.

The programme council, which started in October 2024, chooses films from all over the world with universal themes that offer the viewer a different perspective. Distant connection with Films als Verbinding gives visitors the opportunity to meet Arnhemmers from here and far and to discuss universal themes together.
