Verre binding, films from near and far: The Breadwinner

Sunday 16 February 19:00 - 22:00 hour Focus Filmtheater

Change your perspective at Focus Film Theater (with after-program)

Verre binding presents: The Breadwinner

A program board of Arnhemmers from near and far is programming their third movie at Focus Filmtheater: The Breadwinner. The film, about an Afghan girl living with her family under the Taliban regime, touches on themes such as freedom, oppression, courage, and the strength of family. Following the film, there will be a discussion with guests, including Shaheera Barmaki, who fled from Afghanistan and now lives and works in Arnhem. What does freedom mean, and what is it like to live without it?

Program Council

In the project Verre binding, film is used as an art form to create encounters between Arnhemmers from near and far.

The program board, which launched in October 2024, choose films from around the world with universal themes that offer viewers different perspectives. Verre binding gives visitors the chance to meet Arnhemmers from near and far and to discuss universal themes together.
